ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester Lancers today announced the hiring of Josh Rife as their new Head Coach. He spent last season as a Captain with the Milwaukee Wave, under Wave and U.S. National Futsal head coach Keith Tozer.

Rife, 33, has eight professional indoor seasons under his belt, reaching the finals five times. He has played 11 professional outdoor seasons, reaching the final five times as well. His professional accolades include Defender of the Year honors in both outdoor and indoor soccer, and he was ranked eighth in the USL Second Division’s Players of the Decade from 2000-10. He has won three indoor championships and seven shared or outright regular season championships.

Rife played collegiate soccer for two years at TCU and two years at Indiana University under Coach Jerry Yeagley, who is considered the most successful college coach in the history of the sport. Rife reached two final four appearances, one final, was named to the Big 10 First Team twice, Big 10 Academic Honoree twice, and also reached the Big Ten Championship. He was also the Palm Beach Atlantic University Assistant Coach from 2008-2010, winning the NCCAA National Championship in 2010.

“I am honored and grateful for the wonderful opportunity to be the Head Coach for the Rochester Lancers,” Rife said. “I am excited to be part of a great organization that in a short time since returning to the MISL, has gained tremendous respect around the league for their on-field product as well as their off-field professionalism. I am looking forward to a great season and great things in the years to come.”

Rife is a native of Hawaii and has been married eight years to wife Christy, who played in the USL W-League for 11 years and was the first female inducted to the University of North Carolina-Wilmington Hall of Fame. They have a one year old daughter, Maddison.
