CHICAGO -- The Chicago Soul FC of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) has announced the signing of forward Bato Radoncic to a three-year deal. With the addition of Radoncic, the Soul complete their 2012-13 season roster.
Radoncic, 32, has been playing professional soccer since 1996 when he signed with Berane, a second division team from his native country of Montenegro. He earned MVP honors for all three consecutive seasons spent with Berane. Radoncic was also a member of the Montenegro National Team.
Upon his arrival to the United States in 2001, Radoncic joined the Milwaukee Rampage of the USL's A-League. In 2006, as a member of the Rockford Rampage of the American Indoor Soccer League (AISL), he was named MVP of the league after recording 25 goals and 23 assists, leading the team to the championship series in 2007. In 2010-11, Radoncic played with the Chicago Riot, where he was fourth in the league in points (49) and total goals (20) after appearing in only 11 games. Radoncic was also named a First Team All-MISL forward and racked up three MISL Player of the Week honors throughout the season.
Most recently, Radoncic completed a short stint with the Missouri Comets, and now returns to the MISL in hopes of collecting a championship with the new Chicago franchise.
"We are excited to have Bato on board with us," said Soul President and Chief Executive Officer David Mokry. "I am looking forward to him playing on the line with Chile [Farias] and seeing what the two can do together to create problems for opposing defenders in the MISL this year."
The Soul will kick off their inaugural season on Friday night in Syracuse, N.Y. against the Silver Knights at 6:30 p.m. (CST). The home opener is set for Friday, December 7, 2012 when the Soul host the Rochester Lancers at the Sears Centre Arena. For ticket information, please call (224) 699-4110.
