SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Syracuse Silver Knights will take on the Rochester Lancers at the War Memorial at Oncenter on Saturday, January 21, in a battle of regional rivals.
The Silver Knights lost their third consecutive game on Sunday, falling to Norfolk, while both teams are coming off weekend losses to Milwaukee. Syracuse and Rochester sit tied for second place in the Eastern Division with 6-9 records. With Baltimore holding a 4.5 game lead in the division, both the Lancers and Silver Knights have nine games remaining and will be battling to maintain second place to grab the second and final playoff spot in the East.
The game should be offensively explosive, featuring five of the league’s Top 10 goal-scorers: Jeff Hughes and Slavisa Ubiparipovic (42 points each) for Syracuse and Mauricio Salles (52 points), Doug Miller (42 points), and Jeremy Ortiz (37 points) for Rochester. Salles also leads the league in 3-point goals with four.
With five home games remaining, the Silver Knights will be looking to find their first win in 2012 and to do it before leaving on a two-game road trip to Missouri and Milwaukee. Syracuse’s next home game is on Thursday, February 9, at 7 p.m. at the War Memorial at Oncenter.
